When is custom software the wrong choice?
When a mature off-the-shelf product already covers 80 percent or more of your process. We say so during discovery rather than after a contract is signed — a discovery engagement that ends in "buy this instead of building" is a successful one.
Do we own the source code?
Yes. Clients own the source code and the data outright, held in your own repository and cloud accounts. There is no lock-in that prevents you moving the work to another team.
